From Gloucestershire to Global Rotor-Wings: Castle Air Academy partners with FlightLogger

FlightLogger is proud to announce its partnership with Castle Air Academy, a leading UK helicopter training organisation based at Gloucestershire Airport. As part of the wider Castle Air Group, the largest onshore charter helicopter operator in the UK, the Academy delivers industry-leading integrated and modular flight training programs. With FlightLogger, Castle Air Academy will now modernise and streamline its growing training operation.

Founded over 40 years ago and strengthened further through the acquisition of Bristow Academy UK, Castle Air Academy has become a trusted provider of commercial helicopter pilot training, supporting students from the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. The Academy offers a comprehensive portfolio spanning:

Integrated CPL(H) training (with its first integrated cohort completing soon)

  • Modular CPL(H) pathways

  • Multi-engine type ratings

  • Integrated and modular ground school

  • Advanced training including multi-engine instrument ratings

The Academy operates a dynamic fleet of approximately 10 aircraft, often rotating client-owned helicopters into training programs, alongside two AW109E simulator. This flexibility supports tailored training for a diverse international student base, including those preparing for commercial, offshore, air ambulance, and charter careers.

“Castle Air Academy is a complex, fast‑growing training organisation with multiple integrated and modular programs. We needed a system that could match that complexity - not one we had to build from scratch,” said Dave Lewins, the Accountable Manager of Castle Air Academy. “FlightLogger gives us the structure, tracking, and documentation quality we need to meet industry standards and support our expansion.”

Castle Air Academy selected FlightLogger after seeking a modern, mature and proven platform with extensive experience supporting integrated helicopter training, trusted across the industry by close training partners including Skyborne.

With FlightLogger, Castle Air Academy will gain:

  • Digitised progress tracking and structured documentation aligned with industry standards

  • Centralised scheduling for aircraft, simulators, classrooms, and instructors

  • Audit‑ready compliance workflows, improving documentation quality and oversight

  • Flexible resource management - adding and removing aircraft as their fleet rotates

  • Integrated theory management to support both modular and integrated ground school formats

“Castle Air Academy is a highly respected helicopter training provider with ambitious plans for growth,” said Mads Larsen, CEO of FlightLogger. “We are excited to support their shift toward a more modern, scalable digital training framework - one that meets the expectations of students, regulators, and industry partners.”

Castle Air Academy went live in January, with integrated CPL(H), theory modules, and key programs implemented first. Additional training components will be added step‑by‑step. To support their rollout, FlightLogger provide a combination of online training and optional on‑site sessions for administrators and instructors.

This partnership reflects FlightLogger’s continued expansion into the helicopter and advanced rotary‑wing training sector, enabling academies like Castle Air to operate with greater structure, scalability, and compliance.
